What exactly is NIL and is it legal?
NIL stands for Name, Image, and Likeness. Since 2021, NCAA rules allow college athletes to be compensated for endorsements, appearances, and other activities using their personal brand. It is fully legal and operates under NCAA regulations and applicable state laws. No Fan Engine payment constitutes “pay for play” — all activities require a genuine value exchange.
Where does my membership money go?
Your membership funds legitimate NIL agreements with student-athletes at your school. Athletes receive compensation in exchange for endorsements, appearances, content creation, and community engagement. Every agreement is transparent and tracked through the platform.
How do athletes give charities “direct exposure”?
As part of their NIL activity, athletes promote verified local charities to their communities — through social media, appearances at charity events, volunteering, and campus campaigns. Athletes are trusted voices in their communities; that visibility helps charities reach donors and volunteers they couldn’t reach on their own.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. You can cancel your membership at any time through your account settings or by emailing [email protected]. Your membership remains active through the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused portions.
My school isn’t listed — can it be added?
We are growing the platform regularly. If your school isn’t listed yet, email [email protected] and let us know. We prioritize additions based on demand, so the more requests we get for a school, the faster it gets added.
Is this available for D2 and D3 athletes too?
Absolutely — and that’s what makes The Fan Engine different. We build NIL collective infrastructure for D2 and D3 programs, where the existing NIL gap is the largest and the athletes are the most underserved. All divisions are fully supported.
